Luna

Pushing a pram (eh.. stroller)

For the first few years of their life, kids are moved around in a stroller, car or bike seat. Seeing a person push a stroller or pushchair is a common, unremarkable scene. Anna goes out most mornings for a long walk.

“It’s good for your mood,” she says. “And Luna really likes going for a stroll”.

Bugaboo

As for strollers, she prefers the Bugaboo. That Bugaboo stroller, especially its Fox edition, features extra-large all-terrain wheels, full suspension for smooth strolls with a sturdy yet lightweight design. “It’s the best and Luna really likes it”, says Anna.

Alas, she lost her Bugaboo a while back and couldn’t afford the steep price of a replacement. So now, with a neighbor politely greeting Anna on her daily travels, she is pushing a stroller she got at the local Salvation Army store.

Her daily route is pretty much identical each day. There’s a choice of two main routes. Both are almost 4 miles through the local park pathways. On weekdays, apart from the geese and squirrels, it’s often a peaceful experience.

“That’s how Luna likes it”, says Anna.

Luna

As for Luna, she is an 8-year-old cat from undetermined provenance. Anna got her from the local animal shelter many years ago. It doesn’t seem to bother Luna being in a stroller for most of the trip. After all most cats like to sleep 18 hours a day and Luna is no exception.

During a prominent ritual of the walk, Luna is lifted out the stroller to do some sniffing and jumping, while on a leash. This allows Anna to take a mid-walk pause and relax on her favorite park bench. Luna appears content with having a few minutes long escapade while being driven around for the rest of the walk.

“That’s how Luna likes it”, repeats Anna.

And so, daily life walks on.

P.S. Cats don’t live forever. Most humans outlive them. I don’t want to think about what Anna (and other pet owners alike) will go through when that time comes
